The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Galveston Island, as well as a Coastal Flood Advisory and a Flood Watch, as a tropical system moves into southern Texas.
Heavy rain, street flooding and increased winds are forecast for Galveston Wednesday as the system moves into Gulf waters and organizes, moving slowly northeast along the Texas coast. Forecasters predict a 60 percent chance that it will become the season’s first named tropical storm.
Conditions expected through Wednesday night include isolated heavy rains of 4-8 inches, street flooding and winds increasing to 35-40 mph with potentially higher gusts.
