March 18, 2026

GALVESTON, TX (March 18, 2026) – The Galveston Wharves will hold an open house 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Cruise Terminal 16, 1602 Harborside Drive, to share highlights, answer questions, and get public input on the port's new 20-Year Strategic Master. A brief presentation on the plan will be made at 4:30 p.m.

Port staff members will man stations with displays and be available to answer questions and discuss how the plan will guide cruise, cargo and commercial growth at the Port of Galveston. Refreshments and free parking in the terminal parking garage will be provided.

At 4:30 p.m., Luis Ajamil, principal of Bermello, Ajamil & Partners (BA), will give an overview of the master plan and the process used to develop the plan. A leading port planning and cruise design firm, BA developed the port’s new master plan, as well as the port’s first master plan, adopted in 2019. The Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees adopted the new plan in February after a year of research and public input.

Rodger Rees, Galveston Wharves port director and CEO, said, “As with the 2019 plan, the strategy for port improvements is based on market research, industry forecasts, port business goals, and community input. The strategic plan balances business sector, infrastructure, financial and community needs. We look forward to sharing details of this vision for port growth with the community.”
