THE SCOOP ON ANNUAL PORT CHANNEL DREDGING WORK

Let’s talk dirt. Dredging is a not-so-glamorous, but critically important aspect of our Galveston Wharves business. Every year we dredge along our waterfront to maintain depths of 40-45 feet needed to accommodate the approximately 1,000 ships that call on the port each year. SALUTE TO UNION WORKERS ON THE GALVESTON WATERFRONT

PORT OF GALVESTON REPORTS STRONG SECOND QUARTER

Galveston Wharves announced business gains for the second quarter to round out a strong first half driven by substantial general cargoes volume. General cargoes, primarily wind turbine project cargo, increased by 104 percent over the second quarter in 2018. Quarter over quarter, the port also handled tonnage increases in bulk fertilizer, container, and roll-on/roll-off (ro/ro) cargoes.
