Port of Galveston Police Rescue 3 After Boat Capsizes Near Jetty

GALVESTON, TEXAS (Sept. 10, 2025) – Port of Galveston police rescued three men early Wednesday morning after their 27-foot recreational boat capsized in the Gulf of America at the entrance to the Galveston Ship Channel.

The port police vessel Clay Garrison responded to a report of an overturned boat with three men in the water near the Galveston Island South Jetty at approximately 4:40 a.m. Officers recovered the men from the water and transported them to shore for medical evaluation. One man sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to the University of Texas Medical Branch Emergency Room. The other two men were released at the scene.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified and is coordinating recovery of the vessel.
