Parking & Ground Transportation

Overview

The Parking and Ground Transportation Department, established in 2019, is led by Port of Galveston Mobility Director Julio De Leon.

The department’s main responsibilities are to manage the Port of Galveston’s parking assets and ground transportation operations. The department manages 13 surface parking lots, an indoor parking facility and a multi-level parking garage with a total space inventory of about 5,500 spaces.

While most of the spaces are used for cruise parking, the department also manages some visitor and tenant parking spaces within the parking facilities.

The department is also responsible for the management and administration of ground transportation at the cruise terminals. The Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees voted to approve and implement the Ground Transportation Manual, which sets forth the rules and guidelines for commercial passenger transportation companies that operate at the Port of Galveston.
