Description of Port

The Port of Galveston is located on the upper Texas coast at the mouth of Galveston Bay in the Gulf of Mexico and is 30 minutes steaming time from the open sea. The Port of Galveston handles all types of cargo including dry and liquid bulk, breakbulk, Ro-Ro, refrigerated and project cargoes, containers and cruise-related cargo.

Terminal Capabilities Overview

Pier 10 – Cruise Terminal 10 / BMW Vehicle Processing

  • State-of-the art passenger loading bridge.

Pier 16 – Cruise Terminal 16

  • Currently under construction, our 4th cruise terminal is expected to be completed late 2025.
  • Berth – with a total length of 1,203 ft. (367 m.), depth 40ft.

Pier 19 – 22 Tourist Development

Facilities Tourist-Oriented Facility: Ocean Star Drilling Rig Museum, shops, restaurants, theatres and art galleries, Harbor House Hotel, 1877 Iron Barque “Elissa”, restaurants and Texas Seaport Museum

  • Total area 291,800 sq. ft.

Pier 25 – Cruise Terminal 25

  • Passenger Handling Facilities – 63,800-sq. ft. passenger embarkation area, 63,000-sq. ft. debarkation area, 53,000-sq. ft. supplier staging area, total terminal area 152,000 sq. ft.
  • The terminal has a state-of-the-art loading bridge, 550 sq. ft. VIP check-in and waiting room and two 400 sq. ft. wedding rooms.

Pier 27/28 Cruise Terminal 2

  • Passenger Loading Facility – 38,700-sq. ft. passenger embarkation area, 94,900-sq. ft. passenger debarkation area, 53,000-sq. ft. supplier staging area, with terminal having total area of 160,000 sq. ft.
  • The terminal has two state-of-the-art passenger loading bridges.

Pier 30 – 32

  • RoRo and General Cargo
  • Berth Berthing space with dolphins totaling 1,000 ft (305 m.), depth 40 ft (12.19 m)
  • Distance From Buoys – 12 miles
  • Fresh water available at request from Port of Galveston only.

Pier 34

General and project cargo

  • Berth Berthing space totaling a length of 632 ft (192.62 m.), depth – 37 ft.
  • Import of wind power-related cargos such as windmill blades and towers as well as various project cargo.

  • Cargo Handling Facilities – There are two shipside gantry cranes serving the berth
  • The storage facilities have storage capacity of 70,000 tons
  • The berth is served by railway wagons.

Pier 39/40 T-Head RORO Terminal

Operator Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean, K-Line, ARRC and General Cargo Berth.

  • Berthing space totaling 787 ft. (239.87 m.), depth – 33 – 35 ft. (10.3 m.)
  • Cargos Handled – Import/export of agricultural and construction machinery and vehicles, passenger vehicles, breakbulk.
