GALVESTON, TX (Sept. 9, 2026) – The Galveston Wharves will hold a public meeting 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Cruise Terminal 16, 1602 Harborside Drive, to share highlights, answer questions, and get public input on the port's mobility projects. A presentation will be made at 5:30 p.m.
Port staff will man stations with displays and be available to answer questions and discuss the port’s various studies and projects related to traffic management and pedestrian safety. Refreshments and free parking at the terminal garage will be provided.
Presentation topics include the following:
Rodger Rees, Galveston Wharves port director and CEO, said, “Taken together, these projects represent a coordinated investment in the future of Galveston's waterfront and the community to benefit businesses, residents and visitors alike.
“As the port implements its 20-Year Strategic Master Plan, mobility has become one of our highest priorities. Growth is about more than adding cruise capacity or expanding cargo operations. It means ensuring residents, businesses, visitors, cargo transporters and cruise passengers can travel safely and efficiently throughout the area.”

Located at the entrance to Galveston Bay and the Houston Ship Channel, the Port of Galveston has been a thriving maritime commercial center since 1825. Just 45 minutes from open seas, the 840-acre port has infrastructure and assets to serve growing cruise, cargo and commercial businesses.
The port is the fourth-ranked cruise home port in the U.S. with four cruise terminals. In 2026 the port projects 445 sailings and 3.9 million passenger movements, a new record for the port.
