Bringing Economic Impact to Galveston Island

In October 2009, the Port of Galveston will host the 98th Annual Convention of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), a significant event on the world maritime calendar. The AAPA is the leading alliance of ports in the western hemisphere, protecting and advancing the common interests of its diverse members as they connect their communities with the global transportation system.

The Port of Galveston won the bid for the AAPA 2009 convention in part because of its appeal to business visitors and their guests. The Port's reputation for solid leadership coupled with the region's selection of business services and extensive collection of business-class and upscale accommodations and attractions, worked together to bring this convention to Galveston.
